Privacy notice
How we handle your information.
This notice explains what information Blackfen Little Learners collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Blackfen Little Learners is a home-based childminding setting in Blackfen, southeast London, currently in Ofsted pre-registration. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is Amy King, trading as Blackfen Little Learners. You can reach us at amy@blackfenlittlelearners.co.uk or on 07933 177 062.
Childminders in the UK are typically required to register with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and pay an annual data protection fee. We're completing this registration alongside our Ofsted application and will add our registration number here once it's confirmed.
What we collect through this website
The only personal information this site asks for is what you choose to send through the enquiry form on the contact page:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your child's age (optional)
- The message you write
We don't run analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies of our own on this site. We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect anything about you in the background as you browse.
How we use it
We use the details you send through the form to reply to your enquiry, to talk with you about a possible place for your child, and — if you go on to use our service — to keep in touch about their care. The legal basis is your consent when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch about childcare.
Who we share it with
Your enquiry is delivered using Resend (our outbound email provider) and forwarded to Amy's mailbox via Cloudflare Email Routing and Google (Gmail). The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. These providers process the message on our behalf so that we can read it. We don't sell or share your information with anyone for marketing, and we don't pass it to third parties for any purpose unrelated to your enquiry — unless we're required to by law (for example, in a safeguarding referral or response to a lawful request from Ofsted, the police, or a local authority).
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to a placement are deleted within 12 months. If you go on to use our childcare service, we'll explain separately what records we keep about your child and for how long — most are governed by the EYFS framework and Ofsted's record- keeping requirements.
Cookies and embedded content
We don't set any cookies of our own. The news page embeds a single post from our Facebook page using Meta's official embed. When that page loads, Meta may set its own cookies in your browser and receive your IP address — that's controlled by Meta, not us. You can read more in Meta's privacy policy. If you'd rather avoid the embed, you can read the same post directly on our Facebook page or simply skip the news page.
Where your information is stored
Our hosting and email providers are global services and may process data outside the UK. Each of them publishes the safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) that they rely on to keep transfers compliant with UK GDPR.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it's wrong, to ask us to delete it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, email amy@blackfenlittlelearners.co.uk and we'll get back to you within a month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we make material changes — for example, if we start using a new tool that handles your information — we'll update this page and change the date below.
